My Sage Z-Axis arrived today and it is beautiful. 9'6" 4-piece 7-weight. It's a perfect match with my Orvis Battenkill Large Arbor IV (a discontinued size that was always too small for my 8-weight) loaded with Rio Grand fly line. A little time in the wind in the back yard when I got home gave me reason to be optimistic that it won't take me long at all to get used to this fast action rod.I hope to get it wet this Sunday. I can't believe I haven't been smallmouth fishing yet this season! But now that I have this new toy, I will not be able to resist. Rain or shine, I will be taking this work of art on the river this weekend.
